Why I Love Working for Myself (and Why You Should Consider It!)

Recently, I did a Facebook live video discussing the many reasons why I have LOVED working for myself, so I thought I’d transform it into an article. Once upon a time, I worked in the corporate world but I just wasn’t feeling fulfilled day after day.

So, I decided to make a change and it has been the best change of my life. There are so many amazing perks, but it comes down to a few major things that have really made all the difference in my life.

These are the reasons I absolutely love working for myself. If you’ve already joined the “working for yourself” club then you know what I’m talking about, but if you’re just starting to hear about network marketing for the first time, then here are the reasons why you should consider it for yourself. I truly believe it’s not going anywhere, so why not invest in it now to reap even more benefits later?

You might think that the main benefits to working for yourself are getting to stay home and work in your pyjamas or not having to commute. While those are definitely part of the equation, the perks are so much bigger and more important than that.

Following your Passion

How many of us can say that we genuinely LOVE what we do? I can, but I’m afraid to say that too many of us can’t. So many people I know are stuck in jobs they hate, forcing themselves to go to work day after day just for the pay check.

Is there something you’ve been always wanting to do but are maybe afraid to take that leap? I am living proof that you can do what you absolutely love and get paid. I have a passion for fashion, and so I found a business where I could turn my love into something that gave me a pay check. Once joining this business, my love of fashion and people has only gotten stronger, this undeniable force that motivates and inspires me to work hard each day.

If you work for yourself, each day you will be pursuing your passion and living out your purpose. Isn’t that what we all want in life? To me, there is no greater feeling than knowing that I’m doing something meaningful and that I feel so passionately about.

High Risk, High Reward

There is no denying it — when I took this leap, I was scared (I kept my corporate job up for awhile in transition). But, if you are willing to put in the work and are determined to be successful, then this type of job is for you. If you are someone who maybe isn’t a self-starter or has trouble being motivated, this industry is more risky because when you work for yourself, you and only YOU are in charge of your fate.

The time that you put in and the money that you make directly affects you. Rather than going to some big corporation, you get out 100% of what you put into it. If you’re willing to take those risks, the reward can be pretty sweet.

A common misconception about my business is that I don’t actually have to do much. Just because I can work from my phone doesn’t mean I laze around all day and do nothing! It just means my time is more flexible — the hours I put in don’t have to be at a set time in a set place. It means I can plan things without having to necessarily worry about taking “time off.”

Flexibility means that I still put in hours, but where and when I put in those hours are whenever I CHOOSE them to be. Most of all, I love having the ability to be with my daughter as much as possible, from volunteering at her school to hanging out with her after school.

You Can Dictate your Value

In a regular corporate job, you most likely make a set amount of money. This means that if you work overtime, stay late at the office multiple nights a week, or take your work home on the weekends, it doesn’t make a different because your wage is stagnant.

When you work for yourself, you are in control, and your wage depends on how much effort and work you put in. If you want to make more money, you can work harder and make it. If you’re having a busy month and you need to take extra time off, working for yourself gives you more freedom to be able to do that. Think about it this way: If you bought an expensive car and then tried to sell it, you know how much it is worth.

If someone offered you less than it was worth, you would never take that offer. Now apply this rule to yourself — know your worth always.

Working for yourself allows you to increase your value, without any boss or superior trying to tell you instead. Furthermore, your value gets paid off right away instead of working long hours overtime to fuel someone else’s car payment or someone else’s dream.

Don’t you wanna call all the shots and have the ability and opportunity to make as much money as you like? Because I sure do!
