As I’m sure most of you know already, I love getting my nails done and as a result, am always trying to keep up with the hottest nail colors and styles. In the midst of fashion weeks in Paris, NYC, and other hot spots across the globe as well as with spring just around the corner, there are tons of emerging trends and styles that I am loving.
While there are some super out there styles that even I don’t think I’ll be trying, most of these are super fun and colorful, making it easy to copy during your next trip to the nail salon. There is no better way to welcome springtime than with a fresh manicure or pedicure.
This category breaks down my favorite colours that are perfect for spring. What I most love about a new season approaching is the renewed opportunity to check out upcoming trends and styles that I can incorporate into my own life. Vibrant colors and hues are reintroduced, so you can say goodbye to the dark reds and grays that we’ve seen too much of this winter. Here are the colors I’m loving for this spring:
This Deborah Lippmann polish in shade “Above The Clouds” is a perfect powder blue shade with a slight shimmer.
As always, I love anything that shimmers and glitters. This trend brings back 90s glitter, so as the weather starts to warm up again. I especially love this JINsoon polish in “Fab” that combines pink, yellow, and blue sparkles. This color is perfect for livening up your hands — why not give it a try!
This is a super popular trend from last year, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere. Now, Sally Hansen created a holographic hue so you can DIY your own mani rather than having to go to the salon and pay extra for them to do it for you. This is perfect for those of you who like to make a statement with your nails! I love this banana shade by Essie called “Avant Garment.”
Yellow… on nails?!? Yes, really. This might be a more daunting color to try, but it is a color that you will see in tons of clothes and on nails this spring. This sunny color is perfect as the weather warms up. If you’re really nervous about this color, choosing it in a mani color is perfect because it’s a small but cure statement. Or, you could try opting for a duller hue.
Pink, in almost any hue, is having a moment (remember all the gorgeous pink gowns from the Oscars!). Whether you prefer your pink hot, muted, peachy, or neon, make a statement this spring with this girly shade. I love this bright pink polish by Chanel in “Techno Bloom”.
How could I not include Pantone’s Color of the Year in this list? Pantone named Living Coral their color of the year for 2018, but that doesn’t mean it’s not meant to be worn in 2019. You’re bound to make a statement with this bright and fun shade of pinky-orange. I love this Butter London + Pantone collaboration (shade “Living Color”, of course).
If you’re looking to really spice things up in the nail department, this is your go-to list for the newest and best nail styles. I always try to go out on a limb at the salon with funky patterns and designs, but it takes guts to step outside our comfort zone. Try it out!! I promise you won’t regret it.
Delicate & Sheer
This nail style is all about your nails looking as natural and delicate as possible. The goal is a light shade that still shows your nail underneath. This is perfect for those of you that like to keep it understated but still gorgeous.
I love to spice up any manicure with fun accents and jewels. The good thing is, this trend is still going strong, so add some pizazz to a simple manicure with the help of fun accents such as stickers or rhinestones.
Mixing it Up
If you follow my social, you’ll see that this is a trend I use on my nails often. Why choose one color or style when you can choose a few!? Mix things up by alternating shades or prints on a few of your nails. But a tip: choose colors or patterns that are complimentary to one another so that your mani still looks fab but not too mismatched.
Press-on nail stickers often get a bad rap for looking too cheesy or cheap. But they’ve come a long way in recent years, and can be a super easy alternative to going to the salon. Simply purchase a pair of these, stick them on, file them down, and you’ve got a gel manicure in less than a minute. I love this set from Alice + Olivia, and it costs only $7.99.
Okay this style is a little out there, but I had to include it anyways. It’s a more modern and electronic take on the classic French manicure.
